Public Education Programs

Public programs are offered year around at various park locations for adullts and kids of all ages. Check out the Monthly Calendar on the HPD website to view all public programs being conducted by HPD staff and volunteers.  Watch The Courier for monthly ads around the end of each month for a complete listing.

PROGRAM & EVENTS GUIDE:  A monthly lisiting of public programs and events, covering three months at-a-glance, is published and posted on the website and can also be picked up at indoor HPD facilities, Findlay-Hancock County Library Book Cellar, OSU Extention Office and Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation District in the Ag Center, Convention and Visitor's Bureau and The Cube.

PROGRAM REGISTRATION: Registration for all programs that involves a fee will be taken at the HPD office, unless otherwise noted. You may come in person or send your payment through the mail. You will not be registered for a program until payment is received. Checks are preferred, payable to HPD, or exact cash when making payment. HPD does not accept bills larger than $20. Reservations will only be taken over the phone by calling 419-425-PARK/7275 if there is no fee charged for the program. All programs that require registration have limited space.

Youth programs may require completion of a Medical Emergency Form prior to the start of an event.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS: Adults, at least 18 years of age, only can attend/register for these programs. Many programs qualify for Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist credit hours. Any questions, please contact the HPD office.

PROGRAM FEE REFUND POLICY: Program fees are only refunded in the event that the HPD cancels a program due to lack of registrants or inclement weather. Registered participants who have paid with cash will have 30 days to pick up their registration fees. If cash fees are not picked up within 30 days, the program fee will be considered a donation to the HPD program department. Unless other arrangements are made at the time of the cancellation, all checks will be shredded.

FEES:

  • Public programs are FREE to anyone, unless special supplies/equipment is required. Fees are noted in the description of the program.
  • Requested programs are FREE, unless the requesting group is out of county. A charge of $2 per person or $50 minimum is required.

School Programs:  Educators, of any level, scout or organizational leaders can request environmental education and history programs for their students or members.  Programs can be conducted in your classroom, school or a variety of park locations.  Check out our new 2016-2017 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS BROCHURE  for a complete list of programs that help achieve Ohio Academic Content Standards.  The Guide supplies information on appropriate age levels, Children's programming at the Discovery Centerlocations, and other valuable information to help our education staff provide the best quality programs for your students.
