PRIMITIVE CAMPING AT RIVERBEND
A class "C" primitive campground, located at Riverbend Recreation Area, provides tent camping with picnic tables, trash containers and waste water drains located along the edge of the woods. Camping permits must be obtained in advance of camping at the HPD Headquarters. An ACTIVITY RESERVATION FORM will be completed when payment is received. Length of stay is limited to seven days within a given month. Parking is available in the Big Oaks Parking Lot. RV's are not permitted overnight in parking lots and no vehicles in the campgrounds. All gear must be carried in. Water is available seasonally, near shelter #1. Pets allowed, but must be under voice control and on a leash leash no longer than six feet. Camp visitors must leave by dark, unless prior approval has been granted. Adults must accompany juvenile campers under 18 years of age. Fires permitted in fire rings only. Firewood must be brought in. All wood must be burnt or any remaining must be taken with you when departing.

FEES: Rates are set at $2.00 per person, per night. Fees must be paid at the time the camping reservation is made through the HPD office. HPD accepts checks (preferred), made payable to Hancock Park District, or cash in small denominations. The exact amount is appreciated. HPD no longer accepts any bills larger than $20 denomination for facility reservations, program fees, and concession fees (ski rentals, boat rentals, and hayrides).
