Changes are coming to the K-9 Field of Dreams Dog Park

During the upcoming spring season, area dog park users will begin to observe some changes and improvements to the K-9 Field of Dreams including: 1.) The current area will be divided into a large and small dog areas (2/3 & 1/3) with separate entrances and gates.  Small dogs will still be able to use the large dog area, if they wish to.  A definition of "small dog" will be forthcoming, 2.) Water, under pressure, will be supplied to both areas, 3.) Time out cages will be supplies on both sides, 4.) An open air shelter is planned for the small dog area. The current shelter will remain as an open air shelter, 5.) A stone area will be placed near the hydrant for a kiddie pool if users wish to, 6.) A dog waste canister will be mounted in both areas with trash cans, 7.) Additional trees will be planted providing shade, 8.) The area will continue to be over seeded and fertilized as needed, 9.) The information board will be relocated outside the park near the walking path allowing everyone to access, and 10.) New signage will be incorporated to better inform users of rules and regulations.

We appreciated everyone's patience as we continue through this transitional time to make the dog park more user friendly for our furry friends.

History: September 2000, the Hancock Park District, Hancock Parks Foundation, Blanchard Valley Dog Owners Group and Humane Society of Hancock County joined efforts to open the first K-9 Field of Dreams Dog Park in Hancock County at RIVERBEND RECREATION AREA.   This “pilot project” has been extremely successful since it originally opened.

Dog handlers are only allowed to bring one (1) dog at a time into the area.   HPD asks for your cooperation during this transitional time and apologizes for any inconvenience.

Users need to be aware of current DOG PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS and must comply.  All State of Ohio laws, according to the Ohio Revised Code, also apply. PIT BULL DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE DOG PARK UNLESS REQUIREMENTS, ACCORDING TO THE OHIO REVISED CODE, ARE MET.  Download PIT BULL DOG RULES  as they pertain to the K-9 Field of Dreams Dog Park.  Violation of these laws is a 1st degree misdemeanor and you will be cited.
